CALL FOR PAPERS: 8th Gewina Woudschoten Conference – Towards a History of Knowledge

(Zeist near Utrecht, 21-22 June 2019; Deadline for proposals: 15 January 2019)

On 21-22 June 2019 Gewina, the Belgian-Dutch Society for the History of Science and Universities, will hold its 8thbiannual meeting in the Woudschoten Hotel & Conference Centre (Zeist). This two-day conference brings together historians of science, medicine, and technology; historians of scholarship and universities; and all those from other fields with an interest in the history of knowledge. The theme of this year’s conference is:

7e Gewina Woudschoten Conferentie

Afgelopen week kwamen ongeveer 60 Nederlandse wetenschapshistorici bijeen in Woudschoten, voor de zevende keer sinds de eerste conferentie in 2005. Is wetenschapsgeschiedenis dan zo’n jonge discipline? Ja, dat zou je kunnen zeggen – als discipline. Er waren natuurlijk eerder wel wetenschapshistorici en zelfs enkele kleine instituten, maar het was een zeer gefragmenteerd vakgebied, verspreid over alle universiteiten en zelfs faculteiten. In 2005 kwam er dus een tweejaarlijkse conferentie, en rond diezelfde tijd werden een masteropleiding (in Utrecht) en een promovendinetwerk opgericht. Een voorbeeld van disciplinevorming, zelf een populair onderwerp binnen de wetenschapsgeschiedenis. `

Woudschoten Conference for the History of Science in the Netherlands: programme available and registration opened

On 23 & 24 June 2017, the Society for the History of Science in the Low Countries, Gewina, is holding its seventh bi-annual meeting in the usual venue of Woudschoten, near Zeist. This two-day conference is intended to bring together those who share an interest in the history of science in the Netherlands, as well as discussing the current and future developments in the field.

Call for papers 7th Gewina Conference

On 23 & 24 June 2017 the Society for the History of Science in the Low Countries, Gewina, will organize its seventh biannual meeting in the usual venue of Woudschoten, near Zeist. This two-day conference is intended to bring together those who share an interest in the history of science in the Netherlands, as well as discussing the current and future developments in the field. The 2017 meeting shall be devoted to Materiality, Museums and Media: History of Science, Presentation, and Outreach
