History
The Society was founded in 1913 under the name of the "Association for the History of Medicine, Science and Mathematics". The number of members in that year was 240. In 1938 it was decided to expand the scope of the organization to the history of technology. The name of the organization was changed into the Society for the History of Medicine, Science, Mathematics and Technology. In 1957 the Society released the first number of a newsletter for its members, which in the following years appeared twice a year. In 1978 this newsletter was transformed into a quarterly Journal, meant to publish scientific articles on the history of medicine, science and technology in the Netherlands. From 1991 onwards the name of this quarterly is Gewina, Journal for the History of Medicine, Science, Mathematics and Technology.Aim

The Society pursues these objectives by the publication of its journal Gewina, by the organization of national meetings and other programmes, by the encouragement of sections of the Society and by cooperation with other learned and scientific societies.Membership
